As Hollywood makes final preparations for the highly-publicised Oscar ceremony, the Razzies have continued their annual tradition of rewarding the worst of film.
After receiving a horrific 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the crime-spoof Holmes & Watson was the big ‘winner’ of the 2019 Razzies as it landed four awards including the not-so-great Worst Picture gong.
The film, which pokes fun at the Sherlock Holmes stories, also scooped Worst Director for Etan Cohen and Worst Remake/Rip-Off or Sequel while John C. Reilly was named Worst Supporting Actor for his role as Dr. John Watson.
Elsewhere, it was BAD news for President Donald Trump as he ‘triumphed’ in the Worst Actor category ahead of Will Ferrell, John Travolta and Bruce Willis for his appearances in Death of a Nation and Fahrenheit 11/9.
The controversial U.S. leader also won Worst Screen Combo for ‘His Perpetual Pettiness and Self Pity’ while his councelor Kellyanne Conway received the Worst Supporting Actress award.
There was mixed ‘success’ for Melissa McCarthy as she landed two awards with the first being Worst Actress for her performance in the crime-caper The Happytime Murders. However she also clinched the Razzie Redeemer gong for her role in Can You Ever Forgive Me? for which she is up for Best Actress at tomorrow night’s Oscar ceremony.
Finally, the romantic drama Fifty Shades Freed took home Worst Screenplay for its screenwriter Niall Leonard and Fifty Shades author E.L. James.
Other ridiculed films like Gotti, Death Wish and Winchester went home empty-handed which will come as a relief to them!
