Over thirty years ago, audiences were left terrified by Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg’s horror classic Poltergeist which became a box-office smash and produced two sequels.
But like many other horror hits before it, the spine-tingling thriller is set to be the subject of an upcoming remake due out later this year.
The tense trailer for it premiered online last night. Contains jump scares….
Helmed by British director Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember) and produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spiderman trilogy), the story focuses on a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and take the youngest daughter, the family must come together to rescue her.
Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile, Moon) and Rosemarie DeWitt (Cinderella Man, Rachel Getting Married) star as the parents with Saxon Sharbino, Kyle Catlett and Kennedi Clements as their children.
The Poltergeist remake will be released in cinemas later this year but no offical date has been confirmed as of yet.
Don’t look into the light folks!
