With five weeks to go until the Academy Awards take centre stage, the organisers have managed to pull off two major coups for the ceremony which should satisfy audiences at home when it comes to music and comedy.
Firstly The Daily Mail has reported that the stars of the musical epic Les Misérables will perform a specific song on stage though it is not yet known which one it could be.
Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Anne Hathaway (Fantine), Amanda Seyfried (Cosette), Eddie Redmayne (Marius) and Samantha Barks (Eponine) are all confirmed to be performing at the show which does suggest that they could sing one of the major numbers like ‘One Day More’ or ‘Do You Hear the People Sing?’.
However the new melody ‘Suddenly’ which is sung by Jackman in the film is also likely to be used as it is nominated in the Best Original Song category.
Meanwhile, the new Oscar host Seth MacFarlane is set to be joined at the show by his latest comical creation Ted the Bear as well as lead star Mark Wahlberg from his hit comedy ‘Ted‘.
Wahlberg confirmed the story during an interview with Anderson Live in which he said that both he and the bear would be attending.
“Because Seth is hosting the Oscars, Ted and I will be appearing at the Oscars”
There is a Ted 2, we’ve already locked the deal, they’re off writing now. I’ve never done a sequel before but I have so much confidence on Seth, he’s just such a talented and funny guy.”
A lot of excitement is building for the ceremony and I for one cannot wait. Here’s hoping that both special arrangements work out well for those involved especially with the Les Mis gang.
The 85th Academy Awards will take place on February 24th.
