In a year that is set to be dominated by Marvel, there is one vulgar comic-book flick that will look to take the plaudits with its adored fan base.
After the remarkable success of his first origin film, the chimichanga-loving superhero Deadpool is back for a new outing as he and his companions encounter a new enemy in the upcoming Deadpool 2.
The film’s riotous trailer has just premiered and once again promises a lot of gratuitous violence and adult jokes, just the way we like it!
Directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde), the plot sees Wade Wilson / Deadpool taking on Cable, a sinister freedom fighter from the future who intends to bring the Merc down.
Ryan Reynolds reprises his Golden Globe-nominated role as Wade and looks certain to continue his growing popularity following the original film’s success. Other returning cast members include Monica Baccarin (Vanessa), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Karon Soni (Dopinder) and Leslie Uggams (Blind Al).
Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Guardians of the Galaxy) is the high-profile casting of the sequel as he plays the dangerous Cable. Coincidentally, Brolin is also reprising his role as the villainous Thanos in the upcoming Marvel epic Avengers: Infinity War which is released a few weeks before Deadpool 2 comes out!
Elsewhere, there are other new additions for the film which include Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Geostorm) as Domino, the love interest to Cable plus appearances from Terry Crews (The Expendables trilogy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Eddie Marsan (Hancock, Ray Donovan).
Deadpool 2 will be released in the UK on June 1st.
