After making a riotous debut appearance as the new Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Marvel superhero epic Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland is finally set to take centre stage.
The British starlet, who first grabbed our attention in the real-life tearjerker The Impossible (2012), returns as the web-slinging comic-book hero in the upcoming superhero reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The film’s official trailer is now available to watch below:
Helmed by rookie director Jon Watts (Cop Car), the plot sees Peter trying to understand his newfound identity whilst coping with life at high school. However he soon finds himself having to deal with a new foe in the form of the Vulture.
No stranger to superhero roles, former Batman actor Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice, Birdman) features as the villainous Vulture. The rest of the support cast includes Zendaya (Shake it Up!, K.C. Undercover), Donald Glover (Community, The Martian), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Dope), Angourie Rice (Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, The Nice Guys), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, Fargo), Laura Harrier (One Life to Live), Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus, The Invitation), Martin Starr (Superbad, Silicon Valley), Kenneth Choi (Sons of Anarchy, The Wolf of Wall Street), Michael Chernus (Captain Phillips, Orange is the New Black), Michael Mando (Orphan Black, Better Call Saul), Abraham Attah (Beasts of No Nation) and Tyne Daly (Cagney & Lacy, Judging Amy).
As part of the expanding Marvel Universe, Robert Downey Jr reprises his iconic role as Tony Stark / Iron Man along with Jon Faverau (Happy Hogan) while Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Wrestler) is back as Aunt May after her brief appearance in Civil War.
Holland is the third actor to portray Peter / Spidey this Millennium as he follows the footsteps of Tobey Maguire (2002-07) and fellow Brit Andrew Garfield (2012-14).
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in cinemas on July 7th 2017.
