Woody makes a new friend and reunites with an old one in new trailer for Toy Story 4

Back in 2010, the Toy Story franchise appeared to have ended perfectly with Woody, Buzz and co. bidding an emotional farewell to their owner Andy in the brilliant threequel Toy Story 3. However the beloved toy characters are now set to return for a fourth big-screen outing which has been in the works for years.
With Disney unleashing three live-action adaptations of animated classics in 2019, Pixar are throwing their hat into the ring with the release of Toy Story 4. Following last year’s teaser preview, a new full-length trailer has finally landed .

Directed by newcomer Josh Cooley, the plot sees Woody and the gang enjoying life under their new owner Bonnie. When a new toy called Forky joins the group, things take a chaotic turn when he and Woody end up getting separated from the gang. The pair attempt to reunite with their companions whilst coming across a familiar face from Woody’s past.

As usual, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are back to provide the voices of Woody and Buzz while there are also returns for franchise veterans Joan Cusack (Jessie), Wallace Shawn (Rex), John Ratzenburger (Ham), Blake Clark (Slinky), Jodi Benson (Barbie), Kristen Schaal (Trixie), Bonnie Hunt (Dolly), Jeff Garlin (Buttercup), Lori Alan (Bonnie’s mum) and Estelle Harris (Mrs Potato Head).

The trailer also officially confirms the return of Woody’s former lover Bo Peep who is voiced again by Annie Potts. Bo was last seen in Toy Story 2 (1999) and now has a new appearance and attitude.

Additionally, there are a number of newcomers to the voice cast which include Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep) as Forky, Keanu Reeves (Speed, The Matrix trilogy) as Duke Caboom, Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Tin Star) as Gabby Gabby, Jordan Peele (Bob’s Burgers, Captain Underpants) as Bunny and Keegan-Michael Key (Bojack Horseman, Archer) as Ducky plus an unspecified role for Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette (Medium, Boyhood).

Fans of the series can look forward to going infinity and beyond again when Toy Story 4 hits UK cinemas on 21st June.

I’m sure this will be the movie of the year, it will be interesting to see if the plot itself has moved nine years forward from Toy Story 3 in terms of cultural references, politics etc. America seems to be a different place post Trump and it’ll be interesting to see if the social background changes
